Monday, July 25, 2005
After a day of exciting battles between the 5 polytechnic's representative, the king of the hill has emerged.
Congratulations to Team NP from Ngee Ann Polytechnic on their perfect win. They steamrolled in and win all of their 4 matches. Let's wish them all the best and continue on their roll. Each of them get to bring home their battle loot of one Alberex's Blade UPS (power backup/power surge protection device).
Although this is only a friendly warm up competition event, but you can see that all teams had put in their best effort trying to grab a victory for every battle. To the other teams, let's give them all a round of applause for the brave battles they had put up.
Standings/Scores:
1st - Team NP (Ngee Ann Poly) - Score 4
2nd - Unforgiven (Temasek Poly) - Score 2
3rd - NYP (Nanyang Poly) - Score 2
4th - Nameless F (Singapore Poly) - Score 2
5th - Team Keblangan (Republic Poly)- Score 0
Wish them all the best in their upcoming Tertiary Preliminary Final on the 31st of August held in Nanyang Poly.

Article from focusplay.com
CS 1.6 or Source
What are we waiting for?
Guest writer, Chris "Spitty" Toby of Clan XQR rallies the CS 1.6 community to port over to CS:Source. Full Story Here. For you guys' information, "Source" above is referring to the latest Counter Strike version, 1.6 is the version prior to it.
About article shows how and why the majority of the gamers in Singapore are reluctant to move over to a new version of a game, and in this article the game it refers to is CS.
Most of the time it is always the case of "there is still tournament for the old version which I can have a chance of winning but moving to a new version I will risk losing" mentality. And for organisers they cater too much to the gamers current need and not looking far enough into the future, thus they tend to stay on the safe side and keep on running tournament base on the old version as long as there is sufficient demand by these gamers. That's really short sighted by both parties in my opinion.
I think right now it is really the right time that local gamers and organisers should try to change their current mentality and the current trend. Gamers should learn to be more daring in exploring new games or game versions. This is what the real professional gamers worldwide are doing, if local gamers are looking up to them and hoping to be like one of these real professional gamers one day, then they should start learning from them (example:
fata1ity hailed as the most idolised pro of FPS genre) right now. Time really wait for no man, by the time you realised that you are being left behind then it might be just too late.
Oganisers should at the same time starts to have some farsighted plans to run events base on the new games, versions or alternative format. This will drive the gaming trend in Singapore to a new height, and maybe one day bringing attentions from all over the world to our little island because we are the fore runner of certain gaming trend.
So to end this post, I hope that organisers starts to hold tournament for DOTA version 6.XX soon. Even organising a small event or a side event is some healthy change for a start.
Did Maxim conned our beloved female WC3/DOTA darling?
Wednesday, July 20, 2005
Hiya all, this is 1st post after the birth of DOTA SG. Although this is not directly related to DOTA gaming, however I feel that we should help to stand up by our coolest and most Kawaii WC3/DOTA female gamer, aLt)PPG.
Her photos appeared on Maxim mag that is sold throughout SG this month, however her account is that she and her advert agency did not allowed the magazine to use it at all.
Damn, I think that magazine is downright scum if what she said is really true.
Let's all pray hard that Maxim will get their deserved punishment for what they had done to her.
The birth of DOTA SINGAPORE.
A big hello to all who drop by DOTA SG.
Today is one sure special day. I have just given birth to this baby for our DOTA gaming community in Singapore.
Although, this is still far away from the official launch of DOTA SG, but I will try my best to put in related contents for this blog site and try to launch it ASAP.
Eventually, I hope that I can gather as much support from our local DOTA clans, big or small clans all will be welcome. After that, I wish to return their support in organising some kick ass events or activities.
I sincerely hope that one day the gaming world would be looking at a bright shining dot (Singapore's DOTA community) on the gaming world map.
