Gallery Updated with Pictures from DOTA 5.84C Tournament @ HQ.

Sunday, October 30, 2005

The new Head Quarter cyber cafe outlet is pretty cramp today because of the huge number of DOTA tournament participants, spectators and also partly because of the cyber cafe layout.

The cyber cafe has two rows of computer by the two side walls after you enter the door. So what was left is a narrow standing space right in the middle. However, after the first few groups have finished their games, the crowd starts to thin out thus there is more breathing space after that.

So, who are the big names who turned up for the event? Well, Myrm, One Letter, DsD. TSA and GoSu are the teams everyone is looking out for and hoping not to meet in the early rounds.

There will be only two rounds played today with the remaining round played next weekend.

Do check back with us if you are interested to know which teams will climb on top of the rest and clinch the top 3 places.

Pictures from the event is updated in our gallery.

Beauty of DOTA.

Monday, October 24, 2005
Inspiration of today's article is after a round of ass-kicking fun DOTA game with some of our WCG 2005 Singapore Team Singapore guys (plus a few others) at Singtel's place today.

Why am I doing there?
I am omnipotent in local gaming scene, I am everywhere where there are any gaming events and stuffs. I gatecrash into them uninvited. Nah...just pulling yall legs. I was there with my buddy to attend the launch of their training place (if you watch news on TV today, you will know what training place I'm referring to.)

What in the hell are you doing, playing DOTA with Team Singapore's guys? Ain't they suppose to be training????
Let's cut long story short. After the launch press conference, refreshment and game training sessions among themselves, some of the Team Singapore's representatives got kinda bored and tired.

Then someone suddenly has this brilliant idea, why not play DOTA to chill out a bit!! Suddenly everyone (almost everyone) in that room started to wake up from their almost slumber state and get real alert. They then proceed tp prepare their comps and setting in order to play DOTA. Some kind soul invited me to play so I sat down and join them in the game. Of course being one big DOTA addict, how could I resist?

The game started and went on with much competitiveness between the Sentinels and Scourge side. Friendly taunts and names calling were haul across both sides. There were many moments of laughs and everyone enjoyed the game when it ends. There were no hard feeling and everyone is happily laughing their heads off, especially one of the hero (I should not mention who so not to embarrass him). Of course, some of us are thirsty for more after it ends, but it's kinda too late and some of us realised that our tummies are rumbling.

So what's so amazing then?
Well, the 9 of us who are in the same game includes Team Singapore's representatives from NSFU2(Phenic), his babe(Nickname is classified), Halo2(Team 7thSin), DOW(Ravana), DOAU2(Wilson),FIFA(Mkwell),one of the event organiser's guy(Ecalyte) and of cos, me(Nickname is classified). What a mixed bag of gamers man. Here you have the players from different game genre, who are professional in their respective games they represent and coming together to play this game call DOTA and getting fun and good laughs out of it. The other side, sentinels, won if you are interested to know the result of that game.

This shows that there is a beauty there which we sometimes did not really notice about DOTA. It is drawing such a remarkable acceptance among gamers. This game just have some unexplainable magical draws to it, once started it's so hard to stop. DOTA is so easy to pick up, and to master, provided there is a craving to learn it well. There are also teamwork and leadership skills which gamers can learn from and applied into their everyday life. It makes people thirst for more and also pushes them to want to achieve their full potential. Other than CS in the older times, there is really no other game with its mysterious charisma before DOTA came along.

I can boldly say, DOTA is the future.

Lastly, a shoutout to the Team Singapore guys and also others who had play the DOTA game today. Kudos to all of you, good luck to all of you for WCG 2005 Grand Final, bring back some medals and mooola. May you all bring Pride and Glory for Singapore.

Looking forward to play with you guys together again.

Hot Rumors!!! Latest Gossips!!

Surfing around WWW.DOTA-ALLSTARS.COM forums, there seems to be some rumors flying around regarding DOTA.

Accuracy of the rumored information are unknown but it is something interesting to hear about.

It is rumored that at the upcoming BlizzCon by Blizzard, there are going to be DOTA featured in the convention, and also someone from Blizzard have requested Icefrog's team to make some revision in DOTA such that it will be suitable for showcasing it.

Does it means that Blizzard has finally given DOTA it's recognition?

The answer would be at BlizzCon.

Regardless of whether this turns out true or not, this piece of information will sure light up the hope of those who are looking forward to see DOTA being supported by Blizzard and going mainstream.

6.19b is out.

Tuesday, October 11, 2005
Nothing new. Mostly balance fixes. Come and get it!

Download
Changelog

Things that might make you go 'Oh noes!'

- Reduced charges of Cyclone on Eul's Scepter from 7 to 6 and cooldown to match its duration.
- Sapphire Water and Clarity Potion prices increased by 5 respectively.

Also, here's an interesting tidbit at the end of the log:

This is being released because of two main reasons. To meet some requests by blizzard and to do a final patch before the longer release cycle, 6.20. Along with 6.19b there is an optional 6.19b no audio version, which is required for blizzcon and some other events that i cannot disclose at this time. The optional version will be linked in this section in the near future.

Yes folks, Blizzard finally acknowledges DOTA ALLSTARS!

Let's maybe heard some view form you guys out there. Feel free to flood our comment sections and forums.
